About Bajrang Baan
📜 About Bajrang Baan
The Bajrang Baan is a devotional hymn in praise of Lord Hanuman, traditionally attributed to Goswami Tulsidas, the celebrated poet and devotee of Lord Rama.
The name combines “Bajrang”, a well-known name of Hanuman meaning one whose body is strong like the thunderbolt, with “Baan”, meaning an arrow. The hymn is thus remembered as the arrow of Bajrangbali, a prayer asking Hanuman for protection.
It begins with a Doha, continues with a series of Chaupais and closes with a concluding Doha. The verses recall Hanuman’s deeds in the Ramayana, such as the leap across the ocean and the burning of Lanka, and then call on him to protect the devotee from fear and hardship.
It is traditionally recited as an expression of devotion and faith in Lord Hanuman’s protection, often alongside the Hanuman Chalisa.
