📜 About Shiv Tandav Stotram
The Shiv Tandav Stotram is a revered hymn in praise of Lord Shiva. It is traditionally attributed to Ravana, the learned king of Lanka and a great devotee of Shiva.
A popular tradition says that Ravana composed it in reverence of Shiva at Mount Kailasa.
The hymn describes Shiva's cosmic dance, the Ganga flowing through his matted locks, the crescent moon on his head, the serpent around his neck and the fire of his third eye. It is also admired for its long, rhythmic compound words that echo the beat of the damaru.
The first fifteen verses praise Shiva, and the last two speak of the blessings of reciting the hymn with devotion, especially in the Pradosha hour.
